ASICS EX89

The EX89™ sneaker combines the traditional influences of the 1989 GEL-EXTREME™ basketball shoe with modern cushioning properties.

It was originally created by Toshikazu Kayano in the late 1980s as his first design project for ASICS. The upper's layered leather construction is also accompanied by a vibrant colorway that echoes the iconic NBA team uniforms of the era. 

We have updated the cushioning system with our FF BLAST™ technology. The heel shape is sculpted to improve underfoot comfort in everyday situations.

The design of the sole is intended to mimic the view of a city from the sky. Its functional fit was initially inspired by the designer's first working trip to the United States in 1987.
